Unique tour of Maras and Moray, two of Cusco's most fascinating destinations. Pre-Inca salt mines and circular Inca terraces in one tour.
A unique tour of Maras and Moray, two of Cusco's most fascinating destinations. Maras is known for its famous salt mines, an impressive set of salt terraces on the mountain slopes used since pre-Inca times.
Moray is a unique archaeological site with circular terraces built by the Incas to experiment with different microclimates and agricultural techniques. Each terrace level presents a temperature difference, creating an open-air agricultural laboratory.
Pickup from your hotel in Cusco between 8:00 and 8:30 AM. We head to the Sacred Valley through spectacular Andean landscapes with panoramic views of snow-capped mountains and farmland.
First stop at Moray, the impressive Inca agricultural experimentation center. Our guide will explain how the Incas used concentric circular terraces to create different microclimates and experiment with crops from various altitudes. Each level shows up to 5°C temperature difference.
We continue to the Maras Salt Mines, a visual spectacle of over 5,000 salt pools on the mountain slopes. This salt extraction system has been used since pre-Inca times and remains operational today. You will have time to walk through the pools and take photographs.
After the visit, we begin the return journey to Cusco, arriving approximately at 3:00 PM.
