Circuit 2 (Classic) – Designed Route is the most recommended for a first visit. It offers 10 hours of exploration and access to the most iconic areas, including the viewpoint for the classic postcard photo. If you prefer panoramic views from above, Circuit 1 is ideal. For adventurers, Circuit 3 includes Waynapicchu or Huchuypicchu mountain.

The iconic photo with the citadel and Huayna Picchu mountain in the background is taken from the main viewpoint. The tickets that allow access to that spot are Circuit 2 – Designed Route and Circuit 1 – Upper Terrace Route. We recommend the first entry slot of the day for the best light and fewer crowds.

The only ticket that includes the ascent to Waynapicchu mountain is Circuit 3 (Royal) – Waynapicchu Mountain Route (3-A). It admits only 400 visitors per day and tends to sell out 3–4 months in advance. The climb is physically demanding — steep stairs and bare rock — and is not suitable for people with vertigo.

For seniors or people with limited mobility, we recommend Circuit 2 – Lower Terrace Route (2-B) or Circuit 1 – Upper Terrace Route (1-B), with more accessible paths and less elevation gain. Choose a morning slot (before 9:00 AM) to avoid heat and crowds.

No single ticket covers the entire park — each circuit is designed for a specific area. Circuit 2 – Designed Route covers the greatest number of main zones. To see all areas you need multiple visits on different days, which requires advance planning.

The Ministry of Culture allows one ticket per person per day. You cannot enter twice on the same day or with different circuits. You can buy tickets for consecutive days with different circuits. We recommend booking 3–4 months in advance since spots are very limited, especially in high season.

If Circuit 2 is sold out for your preferred date: (1) Check Circuit 1 (Panoramic), which accesses very representative areas. (2) Look for cancellations — some tickets are released a few days before. High Season (June – August): Peak tourist traffic. Spots sell out 3–4 months in advance. Dry and sunny weather, ideal for visiting.

Low Season (November – April): Fewer visitors and more availability, though rain is possible (January–March is the rainiest). Accommodation and tour prices are generally lower. The park is beautiful year-round.
