Machu Picchu, used by the Inca empire presumably as a residence and religious sanctuary, is considered at the same time, a masterpiece of architecture and engineering, which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Its peculiar architectural and landscape characteristics, and the veil of mystery in its history, have made it one of the most popular tourist destinations on the planet, as well as one of the 7 wonders of the world.
We will pick you up 2 hours before your departure from the train, to go to Ollantaytambo station, heading to Aguas Calientes, upon arrival you will take a bus to ascend 400 meters high, through a zigzagging road for 30 minutes to reach the incredible wonder of the world, the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, known as the Lost City of the Incas, where you can enjoy a wonderful and energetic sunrise.
At the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, you will begin your guided excursion, visiting the main square, the circular tower, the sacred sundial, the royal quarters, the temple of the three windows and the cemeteries; the tour lasts approximately two hours.
Then you will have free time to stroll around the citadel. Then you will board the bus back to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you can have lunch in one of the many restaurants in the town (lunch on your own).
In the afternoon you will take the train back to the town of Ollantaytambo, (depending on the departure time of your train) and upon arrival at the train station, we will be waiting to transfer you to the city of Cusco.
